Between August 12-16, 2019, the Dartmouth South-South Forum’s inaugural interdisciplinary workshop will explore this issue under the title of “Home Lost.” The workshop, convened by Latin East core participant Eman Morsi, alongside her colleagues at Dartmouth Mingwei Huang, and Golnar Nikpour, aims to bring together a number of scholars, writers, and artists to discuss the various ways through which the trauma of losing one’s sense of home – be it physical, emotional, or psychological – manifests in the everyday lives of those affected as well as in their artistic expressions. In lieu of traditional panel sessions, the forum will be organized around daily roundtables for workshopping works-in-progress.  

Participants will circulate their drafts three weeks prior to the session. In addition to roundtables, the forum will host a number of film screenings and art exhibits. The focus on the theme of “Home Lost” could include these and other channels of inquiry:

•      Displacement, dislocation, and trauma

•      Migrants, exiles, and refugees

•      Diasporas and reconstructions of home

•      Mobilities and immobilities

•      Temporary-permanent encampments

•      Carceral Geographies/Prison as Home

•      Border geographies and ecologies

•      Climate change and unnatural disasters

•      Gender, sexuality and intimacies of home

•      Indigeneity and home/land

•      Material culture, aesthetics, home as everyday world-making

Conveners are eager to nominate a week-long residency for an artist and/or host film screenings and performances as part of the workshop. Please submit an artist statement, curriculum vitae, and short statement about engaging with the theme and a plan for the residency.

To submit a proposal, please send a paper abstract (max. 500 words) and a recent curriculum vitae to dartmouthssf@gmail.com by March 1. Decisions will be emailed out by March 15, 2019.

Dartmouth explorará este tema bajo el título de "Hogar perdido." El taller, convocado por la participante principal del Latin East, Eman Morsi, junto con sus colegas en Dartmouth Mingwei Huang y Golnar Nikpour, tiene como objetivo reunir a una serie de académicos, escritores y artistas para discutir las diversas formas en que el trauma de perder el sentido del hogar, ya sea físico, emocional o psicológico, se manifiesta en la vida cotidiana de los afectados, así como también en sus expresiones artísticas. En lugar de las sesiones de panel tradicionales, el foro se organizará en torno a mesas redondas diarias para trabajar artículos en progreso.

Los participantes circularán sus borradores tres semanas antes de llevar a cabo la sesión. Además de las mesas redondas, el foro albergará una serie de proyecciones de películas y exhibiciones de arte. El enfoque en el tema de "Hogar perdido" podría incluir estos y otros canales de investigación:

  • Desplazamiento, dislocación y trauma

  • Diásporas y reconstrucciones de viviendas

  • Movilidades e inmovilidades

Los convocantes están ansiosos por nominar una residencia de una semana para un artista y / o ser anfitrión de proyecciones de películas y actuaciones como parte del taller. رشة الافتتاحية متداخلة التخصصات والتابعة لمنتدى دارتموث للجنوب والجنوب لتستكشف قضية هذا العام تحت عنوان "البيت المفقود". الورشة التي تقوم عليها إيمان مرسي، المشاركة الأساسية في «الشرق اللاتيني»، إلى جانب زميليها بكلية دارتموث، مينغواي هوانغ، وگلنار نكپور، تهدف إلى جمع عدد من الدارسين والكتاب والفنانين ليناقشوا شتى تجليات الصدمة النفسية الناجمة عن الغربة - أكانت مادية أم عاطفية أم نفسية - في الحياة اليومية للمتضررين وكذلك في أشكال تعبيرهم الفني. وكبديل لجلسات الخبراء التقليدية، سيكون الشكل التنظيمي للمنتدى قوامه موائد مستديرة لاستكمال الأعمال قيد التطوير بشكل جماعي مكثف.

سيسلّم المشاركون مسوداتهم للمنظمين قبل الجلسة بثلاثة أسابيع. وبالإضافة إلى الموائد المستديرة، يستضيف المنتدى عددا من عروض الأفلام والمعارض الفنية. ومن بين ما يحتمله محور "البيت المفقود" اتجاهات البحث التالية وغيرها:

  • الإبعاد والتهجير والنزوح والصدمة النفسية

  • المهاجرون والمنفيون واللاجئون

  • حالات الشتات واستعادات الوطن

  • حالات الحراك وحالات انعدام الحراك

  • إقامة المخيمات المؤقتة والدائمة

  • دراسة أماكن ومواقع الحبس/سُكنى السجون

  • جغرافيا الحدود وبيئتها

  • التغير المناخي والكوارث غير الطبيعية

  • الجنوسة والجنسانية والجوانب الحميمية للموطن

  • الأصلانية والموطن/الأرض

  • الثقافة المادية، والجماليات، والموطن بوصفه تشكيلا يوميا للعالم 

كما أن المنظمين مهتمون بتحديد أسبوع إقامة فنية و/أو استضافة عروض أفلام وعروض أدائية كجزء من الورشة. والمرجو من الفنانين وصناع الأفلام إرسال بيان عام، وسيرة ذاتية مهنية، وشرح مختصر لكيفية الاشتباك مع محور الورشة، وخطة عمل للإقامة.

لتسليم مقترح، المرجو إرسال ملخص للورقة (بحد أقصى ٥٠٠ كلمة) وسيرة ذاتية مهنية حديثة على العنوان dartmouthssf@gmail.com في موعد أقصاه ١ مارس/آذار. وسوف ترسل ردود القبول والرفض بحلول ١٥ مارس/آذار.
