Jadaliyya
Jadaliyya is an independent e-zine produced by the Arab Studies Institute. It provides a unique source of insight and critical analysis that combines local knowledge, scholarship, and advocacy with an eye to audiences in the United States, the Middle East and beyond. The site currently publishes posts in Arabic, French, English, and Turkish, and is run and produced on a primarily voluntary basis by an editorial team and expanding pool of contributors committed to discussing the Arab world on its own terms. Where others see only a security threat, conflict, or data on a graph, Jadaliyya sees a region inhabited by living communities and dynamic societies.
2018 Roundtable on the Latin East
In addition to the pieces published by NACLA and MERIP, Jadaliyya published two original essays that did not make it into the special volumes, as well as the transcribed comments from the panel discussants at our 2018 conference. On their website the Latin East initiative was introduced in a roundtable presented through a series of articles related to the themes of the conference. They are as follows:
Amal Eqeiq, “عن الحدود والقيود: الانتماء إلى المكان بين المكسيك وفلسطين”
Eman Morsi, “تعليقات على سياسة الفن: قراءات وتأملات وانحرافات”
Rania Jawad, “Trajectories of Travel: Augusto Boal’s Liberatory Theatre Practice in Palestine”
Ali Mirsepassi, “تعليقات حول لقاءات ورسم خرائط الشرق اللاتيني”
Ella Shohat, “تعليقات على الدراسات العابرة للأقاليم”
